Food Friday

No crafting, lots of eating.

"Lighter" Chicken Pot Pie from Martha's Everyday Food magazine. Tip: four carrots are WAY too many.

Lemon Loaf. Looks good. In reality a little on the dry side, but great toasted and smeared with butter. Very healthy, I know.

Mint Julep. Now who couldn't do with one of those every so often?

And a little something I grew up with. You have to really hunt around for a specialty import store to find these. Thanks honey!

  7. Anina, we eat rusks too, but the round ones with butter and sugar on them! Yum, yum. My heritage is dutch though, not afrikaans. Your chicken pot pie looks so yummy!

  8. We used to have rusks as little kids, they were great for teething tots, and because I was the eldest I got to enjoy them 5 times more than my siblings! They don't make them like they used to now, as we found to our dismay when my sister had her baby - they're not nearly as sweet and delicious anymore. But, oh, I can STILL taste and smell them. Thanks for evoking a wonderful memory. Cheers, Diane
