A little windfall (and I'm sharing)

Good news!
Due to a boo-boo at the supplier I got a batch of Antique Quilts magazines at a VERY good price.
So...they're now on sale for $4.99 in the store. That's 62% off!
I've already removed one for myself because the last batch sold out so quickly that I never got to keep one.

If you don't remember, the magazine contains 22 quilt patterns: 11 classic quilts remade with modern fabrics and simpler construction methods.

Now for the sharing:
I'm giving away one of these to a lucky blog buddy.
But you have to be quick.
I'll do the drawing at 8:40am PDT tomorrow morning.
That gives you 24 hours.
I won't make you go traipsing through the store again, although you're welcome to, of course.
Just leave a comment here.
That's it.
Have an awesome day everyone!

(If you buy one from my store and you happen to be the winner of the giveaway, I'll refund your money.)

A Foray into Fabric

I've decided to jump on the Spoonflower bandwagon and make a foray into fabric design.
I don't really know what I'm doing, so the swatches should be interesting.
Stay tuned.

The "First Post" Quilt

I was scanning through the blog archives for photos of the log cabin quilt I hinted at in my first post back in 2007 and found that I don't think I ever shared photos of the actual completed quilt.
So here she is:
Blue and Red Log Cabin Quilt
I really still love this little quilt, although it's a little more traditional than I would make these days. It was also in the days when I never made a quilt without a pattern. Blogging sure changed that!

It seems like I did some bathroom basting back in the day and had just forgotten...
Blue and Red Log Cabin Quilt
and I used to take such lovely photos back when time wasn't an issue...
Threads waiting...
All this reflecting is making me a little nostalgic and thinking about how much simpler things were back in '07.

Blog Birthday Giveaway

I've been trying to come up with a good giveaway idea...
I decided that, instead of giving away one big prize, I'll give away 10 little prizes.

So...I'm giving away 10 fat quarters.

To enter:
Go browse through the store and leave a comment here telling me which fabric you'd like a fat quarter of. Any fabric in the store.
The giveaway will end at 12pm PDT on Monday, March 29th.
Good luck and thank you for celebrating my third bloggy birthday with me.

A little reminder:
Make Life... is only on sale until tomorrow. 20% off.
I just checked Moda's site to see if I can reorder but they're pretty much out of stock, so if you like this fabric...

Three Years!

I noticed some "blogaversaries" going on around blogland lately and just realized that this little blog's third birthday just came and went!

I think it's time for a giveaway.
I'm going to have to give this one a little thought, so do come back tomorrow for the details.
I'm such a tease...

I've been looking back at my early posts with nostalgia.
You won't mind if I re-share some of those in the coming weeks, would you?

This was my very first blog post. Ever.

March 7, 2007

Well, here goes...

I'm not sure what will end up here, but I'm sure it'll take on shape as I go along.

This is a block from my current quilting project. I'm making a blue (and red) log cabin quilt using only fabrics from my stash. The plan is to use up all my stash fabrics so that I can go buy new fabrics without feeling so guilty about all the unused fabric in the closet.

Sashing needed (I think)

I laid out all my SewConnected 3 blocks on the patio and I definitely think I'm going to have to use sashing.
This is w-a-a-a-y to busy.

Any suggestions?

(The fabric is Panache from Moda.)

Optical Illusion (and other quilts)

I visited the Quilters Anonymous show in Monroe, WA on Saturday.
It was fun.  I love quilt shows.

I took some photos but unfortunately did not note the quilt makers.  I should know by now...
If you see a quilt you recognize, let me know and I'll give credit.

See the curves here?

Someone read my mind!

The mailman brought this yesterday:

As many of you know, I love taking classic quilt patterns and remaking them in modern fabrics and colorways.

Well...
11 classic quilts remade as 11 modern quilts.
With simpler construction methods to boot.

I think I'm going to have to put that cover quilt on my long to-do list. Maybe close to the top.

As always, you can find the magazine in the store at 15% off list price.

Another GITF completed!

Just not by me.

I'm starting to feel so guilty about my Geese in the Forest quilt. That's the thing with this pattern. Once I made one of each block, I knew they turn out great and the other ninety or so went on the backburner. Well, actually I've made about 60 of the 100 blocks, but I'm not done.

Like Becky.

And Tina.
geese in the forest
And, of course, Mary.

It's on the list and I really hope to have it finished before Christmas.
Really.

(If you've completed yours and would like me to post about it, let me know.)

New drapes (almost)!

We visited Ikea on Sunday to get more shelving for fabric. Yes, I'm expanding by the day!
Then I saw this:

The drapes in the store/dining room are awfully dated.  This is just what the doctor ordered.  Now to find time to actually make new curtains.
