I'm finally cleaning out the loft in our garage after more than four years in this house. We still have many, many unpacked boxes from our previous house, as well as those boxes that move from house to house and never get opened. I'm opening them all and rediscovering things from long, long ago.
Does anyone remember candlewick embroidery? This is at least 15-20 years old, since I made it before Josh was even a twinkle in our eyes. It's heading straight to the wash and then I may remake the little pillow cover. It has MAJOR ruffles straight out of my 80's romantic phase.
(The photos suck. White on white is hard!)

How lovely! I do indeed remember candlewick. In fact, I was going through my stack of unframed embroideries and other assorted things yesterday and one piece is a candlewicking pillow top I made in the 80s. I am so awful! You've inspired me to do something about finishing that super old project. So, you're not alone at all with this.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I don't want you to feel older but I do remember candlewicking from an after school craft class I took when I was in school. I think mine was pink and we still have t somewhere, in one of our unopened boxes probably.
ReplyDeleteI love the butterfly!! What are you going to do with it?? It would be lovely framed or..... so many choices.

I have no idea what candlewick embroidery is, but it's beautiful. I love, love, love that butterfly. I'm off to google it now. Thanks.

ReplyDeletei still think candlewick is beautiful - it's very subtle (maybe without the ruffles though - lol)'

I can't help sniggering at the 80's ruffles, my mum probably has something like that hidden away. It's beautiiful work, even if I will have to google candlewicking. That butterfly is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletenever heard of it, but it is BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has a rule that if we don't open a box, it can't move to the next house.
Even white on white... those look amazing! You had some free time!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on living *packed.* I hardly know any other way, but it's frustrating, so I wish you unpacking success.
WOW - looks like it is time to revive candlewick embroidery!!! That is simply stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! You are so talented at all you do! I love the butterfly and the picutre are lovely.

I think the embroidery is lovely! And I actually think you picture is quite alright, it's so hard to make white background justice on a photo mine always end up grey. Your wine day looks wonderful!
