Emergency Supplies

Having gone to the school camp before, I knew that girls always forget something or the other. Toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, bodywash, tampons...

So...

I decided to make a little "emergency" bag and get some extra supplies to take with.

If you look closely you'll notice that this bag has an extraordinary amount of seams. In true "use what you have" fashion I decided that I needed to use the 10" muslin squares that have been lying around for years. The bag, however, needed to be bigger than this. I will say no more.

It came in REALLY handy at camp. What a wonderful mom I am...

  2. What a great bag and love how you "used what you have"! That's my goal for the rest of this year. Of course I say that AFTER I just bought 21 yards of fabric (it was an Anna Lena sale - buy 10 yards get 10 yards free on this last Labor Day weekend).

  5. You are indeed a wonderful mom and very clever, too. The bag full of "needs" is an excellent idea. I like that you sewed the bits together because it gives it texture and depth--adds to the overall appearance.

  6. Cool idea. Thinking ahead, very well done. Not something I'm usually good at. Good on you for using what you have. My oma would love that!

  7. You are a wonderful mom, but we didn't need a bag to show us that!

  8. Totally a wonderful Mom. I love this idea, might adapt it for an emergency kit in the car. For some reason my children always have massive sneezing fits whenever I have forgotten to bring tissues.

  9. Your post reminds me that I MUST use up what I have laying around. It's ridiculous! I can't possibly squeeze one more thing into my workspace. It must happen. Today.

  10. What a wonderful mom you are! But, where were you when I was on vacation with my friends and realized that I had forgotten my toothbrush. My friends laughed as I brushed my teeth with my finger that first morning, my first stop was the drug store for a toothbrush. And even better using what you have, our local wal-mart is closing its fabric department and has had a 75% off liquidation...need I say more.

  12. LOVE IT!!! That would be great to send to camp with the youth at our church...make up a couple, give them to the sponsors and when they need it, they would know that someone was thinking ahead and prepared just for them!
