As I suspected, things got in the way and it took almost a week for me to get to quilting the Boo! runner.
It also occurred to me this morning that my decision to work on only one or two projects at a time probably makes for pretty boring blog posts.
Anyhow, I'm fairly sure the runner will be finished today and I can move on to something else. Yay!
My crazy life is getting itself sorted out.
I'm hoping to be back here soon.
I miss blogging.
In the mean time, a little more inspiration from back in November in Houston.
Just not by me.
I'm starting to feel so guilty about my Geese in the Forest quilt. That's the thing with this pattern. Once I made one of each block, I knew they turn out great and the other ninety or so went on the backburner. Well, actually I've made about 60 of the 100 blocks, but I'm not done.
Like Becky.
And Tina.
And, of course, Mary.
It's on the list and I really hope to have it finished before Christmas.
Really.

I'm buried knee deep in Dear Jane blocks at the moment. As DH said last night, "It's that time of the month". Rainbow Jane time.
I posted updated photos of my original Jane on the "That Quilt" blog earlier in the month, but realized last night that not everyone reads that blog.
Since nothing else is happening around here this week, I'll regale you with those as well.
I've assembled the first four rows!
That is 52 of the 225 blocks this quilt consists of.
I have 166 made.
I love the process of making these little blocks. Never a boring moment. All 225 of them are different. Oh, and only 4.5" big small.

This Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt was a sight to behold!
The hexagons are less than an inch in size. As someone who is working on a GFG quilt and knows how long it takes to sew these by hand, I am in awe.

She says about this quilt:
"I love quilts of simple patterns. The hexagon is especially interesting for me. This wonderful world is composed of many colorful pieces, which are cut from only one hexagon template."
The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted.
She puts me to shame! I'm SO inspired to finish this project. It's on my list of things to do before the new year.
Mary is the first person I know of to actually complete the Geese in the Forest quilt.
I love the border and I'm going to see if I can order some of the dotty fabric for the store.
Not only did Mary complete the quilt, but she hit a little printer bump in the process and made 46 blocks too small.
Look at what she did with them!

It has been brought to my attention that there's a teenie mistake in the instructions for Block 6.
It should read:
“Make 6 blocks using the pattern as is and 10 blocks mirroring the pattern, using different fabric combinations.”
For inspiration (for you and me), look at what some people have been doing!

I'm working on mine right now because I'm totally inspired!
Wow! Remember the sad start to this project? My plan was to make a zig zag table runner without using any white fabric. That was NOT successful, but I now had many, many little half square triangles that I couldn't waste. (I wonder why I made HST's instead of flying geese...)
So...attempt number two.
I call her "Little Gems" because I used Heather Bailey's Bijoux fabric and, loosely translated, bijoux means "small jewels".
Even though this is a really simple little quilt, I decided to write you some instructions for making one, if you're so inclined.
You can download the free pattern over here. I did not have time to test this pattern (although I did read through it carefully many times), so if you download it and find some errors, please let me know.
(Edited on 1/11/13: Sadly, most of the fabrics are not available any more, but it shouldn't be hard to find substitutes.)

The striped border and binding are Oh My Dog Stripe in Lime, my latest favorite for binding.
For the backing I used Tiled Primrose: Gold and instead of white, like I always do, Bella Solids in Robin's Egg Blue to make it a little more practical since I'll be donating it to Ronald McDonald House in Seattle.

I'm hoping to finish this quilt in the fall since it's just too hot and summery (I'm not complaining mind you) for a whole lot of quilting right now.

...I spent some quality time with Granny's Flower Garden, which I haven't touched since September (thanks for the inspiration Jodi!)
and the June A Tisket A Tasket block, which clearly will not be completed by the end of June.
This week the painters are coming to paint the outside of our house. I'll have to stay in and sew, I suppose. Darn.
This one has been in the works since the end of 2008 and is finally done.
I quilted it in two and a half hours on Thursday.
It's definitely a Spring to Finish project.
And the newest twiddletails pattern.
Back in August 2008 I made this quilt.
It was totaly improvisational and I loved it. I really wanted to turn it into a pattern but each block was completely different and that would be an issue.
So I played around with ideas a little and came up with the new one which, although it looks random, really isn't.
Remember that back I was working on?
I'm giddishly (is that a word?) happy with this pattern!

I did a little bit of bee (or is that ant?) sewing yesterday.
Amy's quilt for the SewConnected 3 bee is a picnic quilt and she sent the cutest ant and picnic blanket fabrics, with some solid-ish ones thrown in. She mentioned that she liked applique, so I figured I'd throw some in there.

I knew that if I didn't get this done first thing this morning it wasn't going to happen. Like Monday. And yesterday.
Now I have dishes to wash, beds to make,...
But I REALLY want to quilt this!

I'm in the middle of getting the Rainbow Jane kits ready to go out. When that happens tomorrow, the week is wide open. I'm looking forward to some fun sewing and hopefully completing a project or two.
