Not so much

Gee! I've been suffering from a creative drought the last couple of weeks.
This morning I decided to force myself to make something. Something to challenge the norm. Something with NO white fabric anywhere.
Not so much
After six hours I have something. Do I like it? Not so much. It feels like an awful waste of beautiful fabric.
Back to the drawing board...
On a happier note, the little tisket/tasket block is done.

    IT's great-- you just have to decide to get over it! The colors are awesome--the fabrics have cohesion--maybe you just need a glass of wine! And the basket that has been consuming for you is finished!

    I don]t think it’s a waste of beautiful fabrics. It looks great together. And if you don’t allow yourself to use any white, maybe you can consider adding another solid colour?

    I don't know, I think I like the little bit that you are showing. That fabric is gorgeous even without the white for contrast.

    the little bit that your showing looks wonderful!!!! Maybe you need to keep on with for a little bit longer and its beauty will reveal itself to you as well?

    Sometimes we just need to mix things up a bit! and you can always add a white border later - LOL...

    It sounds like you just need to take a step back (I like Tara's idea of a glass of wine too!) and look at it with fresh eyes in a bit.

    But your basket it definitely gorgeous! I am just loving the bright colors you're using.

    Do you think it's a waste of fabrics because they are not being shown to their best advantage when there is no white? I kind of feel that way about the quilt my sister is having me make for her with Amy Butler fabrics. It's on my blog, three posts down. It's just too much and I feel like it's a waste of beautiful fabric too. But of course I can't tell her that!

    I too would like to see more of it, too. I've read today's posting about the seam ripper so it may be too late for my suggestion. Photograph the whole thing and then look at it on your computer screen. I find this a great way to audition ideas as it introduces a level of detachment. Sometimes I see things on the screen that I'm missing when I look at it in person.

    One additional thought. It appears that at least one of your fabrics has some white in it -- the one in the lower righthand corner appears to have white in its background. If I'm wrong about that, ignore the rest of what I have to say. Try using fabrics that have no white in them at all. They may work better without the sold white.

    The key of course is to just be DOING. Sometimes the pump has to be primed. Luckily, you can always canibalize the misfits for parts!
