How amazing is this!

With all the giveaway madness I totally forgot to share this.
Mary has finished her Geese in the Forest quilt top!
Mary on Lake Pulaski
I'm definitely hopping to it on mine now. I need it to be done for Christmas.

A little reminder: The individual block patterns will only be available in the store until the end of the month. After that I will still have the full pattern including the layout diagrams available.

Happy Labor Day!

Geese in the Forest Correction

It has been brought to my attention that there's a teenie mistake in the instructions for Block 6.

It should read:
“Make 6 blocks using the pattern as is and 10 blocks mirroring the pattern, using different fabric combinations.”

For inspiration (for you and me), look at what some people have been doing!

I'm working on mine right now because I'm totally inspired!

Where's that Zig Zag quilt?

Here!

The weather outside's been frightful, but I think this quilt is quite delightful...

It's 64" square.
The green polka dot triangles are repeated on each end.

I ended up not having quite enough fabric for another quilt top (and we don't really need another one), so I just incorporated all the leftover fabric into the back.

Here's what happens when you have exactly enough white fabric and you measure wrong.

The tree is up!

This is a minor miracle this year. Things have just not been very organized.

Don't you just love these? My favorites, I think.

The top is done

It is, but as I was piecing together a back from the leftover scraps of fabric I realized that these could become a whole other quilt.
Soooooo...I have to go buy some backing fabric for this one and the new one.
Hopefully today if it doesn't start snowing.

I'm making a Christmas quilt!

While I've definitely given up on the forest quilt for Christmas, I think I may be able to swing something a little simpler.
Christmas Quilt beginnings
Of course, now that I'm really inspired to make this, I have a full Friday of hair appointments, shopping trips and Christmas parties scheduled.
I'm still hoping to finish this by the end of the weekend.

What's on our tree

As I've mentioned before, we don't have a "designer" tree. Maybe one day we'll have a tree all color-coordinated and pretty, but for now it's about ornaments with memories and, even though these have no rhyme or reason, we love the memories they bring.

Josh loves penguins. We're actually contemplating having a separate "penguin tree" next year.

My pride and joy

On a very rare occasion I make something that takes even my breath away. This is one of those things. While I can't take credit for the pattern (which is really the source of all this beauty), I did spend countless hours working on this project and it always brings a smile to my face.
I'm so happy to have people to share it with this year. Please click on the pictures to see more details. Cross stitch is notoriously difficult to take photos of, especially when it's behind glass.

GOWI 2

i.e. "Getting On With It" 2
Thanks to all your wonderful suggestions regarding my wreath problem, I walked into JoAnn's with a plan yesterday. Of course they didn't have what I needed to execute the plan, but other inspiration soon came. I'm quite happy with the outcome. I have to be. It's time to move on to other things.

I updated yesterday's post to reflect what I actually got done.

Today:
1. make Christmas cards
2. print family photos
3. finish the black, white, and orange quilt top
4. make Christmas runner
5. take some decorations down from the loft
6. make quilt-a-long block
7. mail some packages, even if they're not "perfect"

What's on your list for today?

Phew, that was close!

I'm clearly NaBloPoMo'd out.

Any suggestions on how to prettify these wreaths without going overboard?

Ho, ho, ho

What does Santa Claus say to Mrs. Claus when he looks out the window? Looks like "rain deer".

That's true around here this morning and all the premature Christmas jolliness in the stores may be getting to me...

Zero

Zilch, nothing, nada, niets, rien, nichts...
Well, you get the idea. Absolutely NO inspiration going on over here these days.

So I bring you some Christmas charm squares I picked up a couple of weeks ago,

and a snail drinking water.

It's sad, I know.
