Well, kind of. I'm a quilt pattern kind of girl although I yearn to be a quilt designer. This project is inspired by a pattern, but I'm not using it. It's not a very far stretch but it's a start.
I think my biggest fear is "wasting fabric" by cutting it up and then ending up with something I hate.
I like what I'm doing here, so it's all good so far.

I absolutely love what you are doing so far. The colors are divine. I have always been drawn to greens and earthy color so that is part of it but really they are beautiful. Can't wait to see how it all comes together. Be bold!
ReplyDeleteI almost always wing it with my quilts... and when you love the fabrics, you really can't go wrong. The white is a wonderful choice to showcase those pretty greens. Can't wait to see your finished product!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for winging it. Pretty freeing! I like this...can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about worrying over wasting fabric and veering away from a pattern...
ReplyDeleteI love those colors!
Love your fabric choices...it looks great so far!
ReplyDeleteI really like all those fabrics together.
ReplyDeletei love the greens and blues! i just looked at that denyse schmidt quilt the other night and thought about winging it. i am assuming that it is the one you are talking about. i think this might jump to the top of my list!
ReplyDeleteI'm a pattern girl too, with designer in my dreams. Keep at it, design girl! Love these colors together.
ReplyDeleteI think I am in the same boat as you. I love to use patterns, but long to design my own. Maybe, for me, it is a lack of confidence in that area. I guess that you just have to jump right in. What you are doing looks terrific!
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics. I find green challenging to match / coordinate with. I can't wait to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteWell the colors sure are nice!
ReplyDeletelooks a bit like the denyse schmidt quilt i'm drooling over since i have the book... but oh, the template cutting! *yuck*
ReplyDeletei might steal your idea to cut it "as it comes"... it looks beautiful, and the colors surely are to die for! ^-^
Your fabric choices are lovely. Crisp white works with anything. I like to wing it with a pattern starting for inspiration too. Will be looking foward to watching what this develops into!
ReplyDeleteIt looks good so far to me, I don't know how you can go wrong!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are lovely. I have a similar fear about cutting into and then subsequently wasting fabric. I try to remember that it's not an artery in my body into which I'm cutting causing me to fall over dead. That little self-reminder works...sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI love that and the colors and fabrics so so great.
ReplyDeleteit's looking GREAT! I like your fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, I love that, girl you make me curious
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! I can't wait to see it finished (and maybe when it is finished & looks lovely it will give you the courage to totally wing it next time:).
