Temperature Quilt Along - Week 1

By now you hopefully have 2, maybe even 3 blocks made. If not, don't fret. I can see some of us (including me) getting a bit behind every so often.
If you're still thinking about joining in, it's not too late!

Organization Tip:
Worried about getting the dates mixed up? Write the date each block represents in the seam allowance with a permanent marker!

Because I'm so excited, I've been playing a bit of "weather chicken" and making blocks based on the forecast. January 1st worked out great!

January 2nd, not so much...
Forecast:

Reality:

I figure I'll probably be able to use the discarded blocks somewhere along the way, so I jumped ahead to January 3rd. Just checked the temps - wrong again! Maybe I'll stop doing this...

  1. I like your blocks for this quilt. What size are the backgrounds and the circles? Is the background the low or high temp? I may have to join in this project.

    1. The blocks will be 2" finished. The circles are 1.5" in diameter. It's going to be a small quilt.
The backgrounds are the lows and the circles the high temps.

  2. I've been over excited too and did the first ahead of time! The high temp was off, but I was able to use it the next day. I'm doing a rectangle with a triangle in the lower corner...I'll have to post to instagram tomorrow, but it's on my website today! :D

    1. I have a couple of unused ones. With the unseasonably high temps I may not be able to use them until the end of the year.

  3. I did start too. Great idea. I make puzzle blocks . Look at my blog or instagram (connysquilts) for pictures.

  4. Your quilt reminds me of one I did last year...I appliqued a little heart block for each day of the year. The fabric of the hearts were to reflect moods and events through the year. I love that quilt! I may not have taken the time to applique the block each day, but I did prep it, so at times I may have had a couple to applique at a time.

  5. I'm not doing high and low, just high, or I would link up. I usually wait until the end of the week to add my blocks. =) Predictions around here can be spot on, but there are a lot of times where they aren't. I like your circles idea!
