I'm still on the nine-patch swap thing. I want us to love our blocks.
The majority vote on the previous poll was:
two fabrics, all blocks the same, and mostly white.
But now I'm thinking maybe we should go truly scrappy (kind of). We'll still do only two fabrics per block.

There's a new poll in the sidebar.
I will post swap details on Thursday, I promise!

Yes, I'm a pain

i have changed my mind as well. i think scrappy but with only two fabrics per block.
ReplyDeleteI say choose what you really want to do, Anina. It's your swap and you want it to be worth your time and to get out of it what you really want. Then if quilters want to join you they will (and believe me we will!) I'm so excited about the swap I'll join whatever you choose.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Trisha. Set the ground rules as you want them, and doing so will help weed out people (if you want to keep the swap to a manageable size, this might be desirable).
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, you could pick one option and promise to do the other one (assuming all goes well with the first swap), thereby making everyone mostly happy.
But, that second option there is a lot of work, and I'm not really advocating you host two swaps back to back, as that sounds exhausting. :)
I am pretty easy either way. I am just looking for ways to get rid of scrap fabric or stuff I will never use in anything else!
ReplyDeleteI have never been in a swap before. I don't know how they work. I will follow the rules, no matter what you choose.
ReplyDeleteI guess if we do the scrappy thing, and someone wants white, they can alternate white blocks in between the scrappy nine patches, right? Or they can sew some sashing onto theirs.
I am excited to try this swap, so it doesn't matter to me.

Sorry, but I vote for white again, I love white in quilts. If you go for totally scrappy, I’m out... LOL!!
ReplyDeleteKidding, I love whatever you decide!
Love the scrappy 9-patch!!!! Did I miss where you talked about size of the finished blocks? I'm getting closer to committing to a dear jane quilt (heaven help me).
ReplyDeleteI think you should do what you want since it is your swap. Most of us will be happy to go along with either.
ReplyDeleteI like the truly scrappy with only two fabrics. It looks great, and if you want white, you can add sashing.
ReplyDeletelooks like totally scrappy might just be the most popular. Count me in!
ReplyDeleteCan i participate?
ReplyDeleteit will be my first swap.
That picture made me change my vote. Actually... I'm up for whatever. I'm hoping this will help get me out of my funk! :)
ReplyDeleteI like both ideas, but I have done the white and scrappy. I don't know that I'd ever make enough totally scrappy blocks for a quilt - so a swap is a perfect way to get enough variety.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it!
Well if you have enough swappers, you could do 2 groups. One mostly white, and one truly scrappy. Although, this could be more work. I say, in the end, you do what you prefer and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI initially and still like the scrappy best! A person could always add white. Check this out:

Love the truly scrappy! : )
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not a pain! I voted...you for president!:)
ReplyDeleteI loved the example you gave for us today - so colorful and pretty! I could go either way, but still voted. You're awesome for organizing this with everyone's input!
ReplyDeleteI love totally scrappy, count me in.
ReplyDeleteI vote scrappy with 2 colours per block - but will go with whatever you decide :) :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of two colors, but then do you want dark in the corners or light. Should try to take that into consideration also. I do like the scrappy one you have posted.

Totally scrappy!! Can't wait for the the details.
ReplyDeleteIf I used two high-contrast scraps I would definitely use white sashing. But I like the idea of it. Tough decision...
ReplyDeleteoh, i love the photo of that quilt!
