A Strippy Runner

I finally finished a Strippy Runner I started at a guild retreat way back in April.

I used the tutorial but accidentally cut the fat quarters lengthwise instead of in the width and discovered a whole new variation! Instead of 15" or 16" by 60"-ish, this one is about 18" x 45" in size.

There are kits in the store if you'd like to make one. (Or you can buy this one for instant gratification. It's in the Etsy shop.)

The Beginnings of Miss Skully

The "Skully" pillow cover is now up for sale in the Replayed & Handmade shop.

Today I'm doing final testing using these fabrics:

The Skully Prototype

It's a week later and the Skully pattern is as good as finished. This is the prototype, which is very similar to the final design.

Just one more round of testing and it should be ready to go.
Since I have the Graffiti Dots in pink as well, I think the next one will be "Miss Skully".

(The prototype and the final test pillow cover will in all likelihood go up for sale in my Etsy store as soon as I'm done, because space is limited and I just cannot keep everything I make.)

Meet Skully

For the last week or so I've been obsessively working on this:

"Skully"
Designing patterns for foundation piecing is no piece of cake. Lots of trial and error. I'm hoping to have the pattern ready to go out into the world very, very soon. Hopefully before Halloween...

Craziness!

A couple of weeks ago, I found a whole collection of vintage crochet patterns at a yard sale. I'm slowly listing them in my Etsy vintage store because there's no way I can keep them all, but they are SO inspiring!

Yesterday I hopped on over to Michael's and aquired a skein of really, really, thin crochet thread.  Actually, it is size 10, which is nowhere near the thinnest there is, but it's quite intimidating.
I also bought a set of 6 really skinny crochet hooks and, unbelievably, the correct size is not among them. I'm just going to have to wing it because there's no way I'm going back into town today.

The booklet it's sitting on is from 1913! Not sure I'll be able to follow the instructions but stay tuned.

Oh, How I Love Striped Binding!

Getting ready to attach the binding to my latest strippy runner.
I'm making it using the Spring Trees kit I added to the store a while ago.
Spring has come and gone but I think this one will work for Fall too.
