I do the exact same thing almost every time. I love having the binding done ahead of time, though. I hate making it right before attaching it for some reason. maybe I'm tricking myself by thinking that I'm ahead of the game or uber organized.
Lol! Always something in quilting, so often I have everything but batting or I run out of thread. Love what you've got so far can't wait to see it finished!
I so totally understand! Usually for me its not having the batting. This is something I usually forget. I cant wait to see the quilt. What I see now it looks so pretty:)
Yes, familiar story. I hate buying backing because I still haven't figured out a formula to tell me how much to buy. Usually I buy too little and have to patch together something, so it's become sort of my trademark to have a "racing stripe" down the backs of my quilts. Can't wait to see your finished product. I love polka-dots.
Oh the backing! Raising my hand with everyone else... me too, me too. Though I've been on a kick to make up as much of the backing with the left overs (though kinda impossible if it's charms). Every time I go to a quilt show, I look at the backs. Finding a cool back is like finding a free prize inside. Er, outside.

But at least you got the top and binding ready! A lot more than I have accomplished! Can't wait to see the finished quilt. I am sure it will be lovely. Blessings, Kathleen
I just finished a quilt top made of Chez Moi fabrics, but mine is from the Charisma range. Such lovely patterns and colours. The black and white polka dot is a lovely unexpected choice to use.
I often back my quilts with plain coloured homespun. it is so frustrationg to have to stop when you are on a roll.

ReplyDeleteWow - I never make the binding before I absolutely HAVE to... I'm impressed!

ReplyDeleteThe suspense is killing me! I want to see the top! I love the binding.
ReplyDeleteI am with Michelle, let's see the top! I always consider the backing dead last. I am sure you will find something that is smashing!
ReplyDeleteLove what I see!
ReplyDeleteNo spare parts from the top and some light blue or green in the house?
I love to make backings, to add some elements from the quilt-top, so I try...! to think about what I want to use on forehand.
