Anyone want to join me?

I saw this quilt in Houston and now my crazy self is seriously contemplating tackling this project.
Why, I don't know, since my applique skills leave a little to be desired. This should vastly improve them though. (And I have a couple of bloggy friends who may be able to give me some guidance...)

Any"buddy" want to embark on this nutty escapade with me?

  1. This is a wonderful project!!! And I would LOVE to be your "buddy" and make it with you. OOOOOh, I really really want to.

However loud my heart is screaming, "MAKE IT, MAKE IT", my brain is screaming, "Dumbass...do you know how many projects you have going on right now?".

I'd better listen to my brain.

    :(

  3. Ditto what Helen said! OH, it's so beautiful! Where is the pattern at? Maybe I can get the pattern at least, I might have to put other quilts aside to work on this one if I had the pattern in my hands, LOL.

  4. I have had my eye on this quilt for months now! I reallly want to make it! I have a lot going on right now (new job, trying to buy a house) But, I want to be your buddy! I'll probably be slower at it though. Where do you buy it from?

  5. I did some searching and this is a BOM? Seams like the best quilts are expensive BOM quilts :(

  6. yeah, buddy! I would love to do it. But I absolutely, positively, definitely and mostly hate applique.

It is gorgeous. Really gorgeous. Good luck. I am sure it will be a show stopper!

  7. I have looked at it, contemplated on it and then thought no-too many others that I like even more -also I am trying to control my spending a little :) (yes I know good luck on that) I hope you find someone who wants to do it with you. You might want to contact the lady that made the pattern Pearl something - maybe she has a group doing it?

  8. Oh, you EVIL woman! I have been looking at that quilt for awhile now also. The smart side of me agrees with what Mimi said but the ADQD (Attention Deficit Quilting Disorder) side of me says "go for it!"........I need to mull this one over some.....There's a new ( to me) method of appliqué I've been wanting to try out...

  10. What a cute, cute quilt! I would love to give it an attempt, but my applique skills aren't just lacking, they are pretty much non-existent. I've been wanting to try an applique project, but have yet gotten up the courage to try. Lol... But I do wish you the best of luck~!!!

  11. Ambitious and super fun! If I didn't already have 3 major applique projects in my queue already, I might join you. But until one of the others is done, I shall have to abstain. But even working on different projects, I could still be your applique buddy! :)

  12. I'm in! I bought the pattern (along with the buttons) at Houston. I'm trying to do a block per month. I've done the angels and gingerbread men. I'm working on the partridge in the pear tree now. I've been sharing my progress on my blog: greenquilts.blogspot.com

I don't know anyone else working on this, so I'm glad to have a buddy. I'm picking lots of Kaffe Fassett fabrics for my applique.

  13. It certainly is cute, but way beyond my skills at this point.

  14. I've seen this quilt at a show too and it is absolutely amazing. One day I hope my applique skills will be up to par to tackle such a wonderful project. I'll be following your progress eagerly.

  15. Hola! Que belleza! Me encantarìa hacerlo, pero esos patrones no llegan a mi paìs de residencia, Argentina. Si hay algùn modo de acceder a ellos, me gustarìa mucho "coser junto" a Ud. Cordialmente,

  16. Anina ... late to comment but better late than never!

My spring break from school luckily falls right at the same time as an applique class taught by Nancy Amidon. The subject ... Christmas Baltimore Album! Yes, I've wanted to do this one for a long time, but never had the guts. I've got the guts now!

Think of me Wednesday and Thursday! I'll let you know how it goes.

    Hugs & stitches,
    Jennifer

  17. I'm working on this quilt Anina, I even have a few of the blocks fused ready to machine applique them. Although right now I have a needle turn project I'm working on. I try to fit one of these blocks in between. I have a few posted on my blog if you'd like to see them.
